Jomar Yazmin got the start for Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, allowing one hit and two runs over two innings while walking four. Lathan Parrish started for Southern Illinois and surrendered four hits and one run over four innings, striking out none and issuing three walks.
Jehiel Hernández and Gerena each recorded two hits for Guaynabo. Derick Maldonado, Gerena, and Pablo Cruz each drove in a run, while the team showed patience at the plate by drawing 10 walks.
