Day One Recap of the Mustang-9 World Series

Day one of the eighth annual Pony Mustang-9 International World Series from Walnut, CA was lopsided as all four games were decided by 10-run rule.

GAME 1: PLACENTIA, CA 14, WALNUT, CA 4

The first inning for Placentia, CA was the big inning for them. Two players were hit by pitch while three were walked. Placentia, CA capitalized on these. Declan Godsey tripled to left field scoring Anderson Miles and Maximilliano Mejia. Both Luke Hartshorn and Keegan Glenn singled to get on base. Followed by A Miles hitting an inside the park home run to make the lead 10-0.

Walnut, CA didn’t give up hope. Mason Ruvalcaba started the second inning singling to the left fielder. Joseph Sanchez followed with a hit to center field scoring Ruvalcaba. Due to an error made by the right fielder Sanchez scored bringing the score to 10-2.

Madden Zaha was the pictcher for Placentia, CA. He went two innings, allowing three runs on three hits.

Ruvalcaba went 2 for 2 at the plate for Walnut, CA in hits.

 

With the results, Placentia, CA moves to 1-0 in the World Series. Walnut, CA moves to 0-1 in the World Series and will face Wilmington, NC today July 24th at 2:30 p.m. PST/US.

GAME 2: ORANGE, CA 17, SCOTTSDALE, AZ 2

Scottsdale, AZ capitalized on a walk and an error to get on the board in the first inning  scoring two runs.

Seth Windsor started on the mound for Orange, CA having three strike outs, one walk and allowing two runs.

The big inning came for Orange, CA in the second inning. They capitalized on 6 walks and a hit by pitch. Joe Velazquez doubled not once but twice driving in three runs. Ryan Francisco, Gavin Klovstad, Christian Cicero, Ryan Francisco and Andrew Waibel all hit singles helping advance the lead to 15-2.

Anthony Benitez Jr went 2 for 2 at the place for Scottsdale, AZ in hits.

With these results, Orange, CA moves to 1-0 in the World Series. Scottsdale, AZ moves to 0-1 in the World Series and will face Laredo, TX today July 24th at 5:00p.m.

GAME 3: PLACENTIA, CA 17, WILMINGTON, NC 2

 Placentia, CA came out hot once again. To start the inning Luke Hartshorn triples to center field. Followed by Anderson Miles hitting an inside the park home run to right field. Both Declan Godsey and Sawyer Kemp singled in the inning.

Placentia, CA had stellar defense. Anderson Miles was on the mound for Placentia, CA, having three strikeouts, 1 walk and giving up 1 run.

The second inning was the big inning for Placentia, CA. They capitalized on the walks and errors that Wilmington, NC made. Luke Hartshorn had two singles while Jackson Esparaza and Gavin Oborn both had singles. Miles earned an RBI on a sacrifice fly to center field.

Wilmington, NC added one more run in third when Grant Jones doubles to right field scoring Dylan Jones who got on base by an error. Wilmington, NC brought the score to 10-2.

Once again Placentia, CA capitalized on five walks in third. The big hit of the inning came from Miles who doubled driving in two runs.

 Anderson Miles had five RBI’S while Luke Hartshorn went 4 for 4 for Placentia, CA.

With the result, Placentia moves to 2-0 in the World Series and will face Orange, CA today July 24th at 5:00p.m. PST/US. Wilmington, NC moves to 0-1 and will face Walnut, CA today at 2:30 p.m.

GAME 4: ORANGE, CA 16, LAREDO, TX 1

 Jacob Barragan started on the mound for Orange, CA. He started the game off with three strikeouts.

Orange, CA quickly jumped on the board. Andrew Waibel doubled to left field. Christian Cicero hit an RBI scoring Seth Windsor who was walked. Joshua Perez knocked in two runs when he hit a single to left field. Bringing the score to 5-0.

The biggest inning for Orange, CA was the second inning. Jacob Barragan hit a big single to center field scoring Windsor and Gavin Klovstad who were walked earlier in the inning. Cicero hit an RBI scoring Barragan. Talyx-Rush Sylva tripled to right field. Both Perez and Windsor who had singles helping advance the lead to 13-1.

Two walks and three singles by Klovstad, Cicero and Ryan Francisco helped expand the lead to 16-1 ending the game in the bottom of the third.

Jayden Gonzalez had the only RBI for Laredo, TX.

With the results, Orange, CA moves to 2-0 in the World Series and will face Placentia, CA today July 24th at 5:00p.m. PST/US.  Laredo, TX moves to 0-1 and will face Scottsdale, ZA today July 24th at 5:00p.m.
